HAJ is the airport code for Hannover Airport, the international airport of Hannover, capital of the German state of Lower Saxony, in northern Germany. The airport lies at Langenhagen, about 11 kilometres north of the city centre, linked in under 20 minutes by the S-Bahn suburban train. It has three passenger terminals, A, B and C, connected by walkways, with Terminal C the newest, much used by charter flights. Hannover is a green, spacious city, famous for hosting some of the world's largest trade fairs, including the huge Hannover Messe, at its vast exhibition grounds. Its great attraction is the Herrenhausen Gardens, a baroque royal garden, and the city also has a restored old town, grand town halls and the Maschsee lake. Hannover is reached by flights into HAJ, by fast rail on the main German network, and by road. The climate is temperate, with mild summers and cool winters.
