Blubber Bay is a small settlement at the northern tip of Texada Island, in the northern Strait of Georgia off the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada. It takes its name from a whaling-era past, but today it is best known as the ferry landing for Texada - BC Ferries connects Blubber Bay with Westview at Powell River in a crossing of around 35 minutes - and for the limestone quarrying that has long shaped the community, with pits and workings climbing the hillside above the dock. For visitors, Blubber Bay is the gateway to Texada Island itself, the largest of the Gulf Islands, a rugged, quiet island of forests, old mine and quarry history, beaches and low-key rural life. The mild coastal climate is at its best from late spring through early autumn, when the Strait of Georgia is calmest and the island's outdoors most inviting.
